Why You Should Drink Spring Water

Drinking water has become commercialized. Bottled water companies and other profit-driven interests now highlight their water products’ beneficial effects. But are any of these the right water to drink?

Not at all, says natural health expert Dr. Joseph Mercola. Here’s a glance at three drinking water types:

  • Bottled Water. The truth is that 40 percent of bottled water is still tap water, and it may not have received additional treatment from water filters. An independent test done by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) also found arsenic, disinfection byproducts (DBPs), and 36 other harmful pollutants hidden in bottled water. • Distilled Water. Use this with caution, because is the water is boiled and evaporated, so it loses its beneficial minerals. “The water then becomes acidic and seeks to balance itself by drawing minerals right out of your body. It will also draw out contaminants from the container it’s stored in for this same reason,” explains Dr. Mercola.
  • Alkaline Water. This is useful for short-term detoxification, which is usually one to two weeks. But one concern in the long-term use of alkaline or ionized water is that it can interfere with your body’s natural digestive process by reducing the acid needed to properly break down and absorb food. This can potentially lead to an upset of your body’s good bacteria, paving the way for parasitic infection, ulcers, and malabsorption.

So what’s a good source of drinking water? Aside from water that has undergone treatment from a quality water filtration system, spring water is a highly viable choice for yourself and your family.

Mountain spring water is among the healthiest water on the planet because it is “living water” – like living food is in its raw, natural state the way nature intended. Gravity-fed spring water is also alive in the same way, helping your body recharge and “return to a whole and balanced state.”

Remember that water pH is a crucial consideration. “In choosing the right type of water, you want to aim for pH balance. Distilled water is too acidic and alkaline water is too alkaline. The ideal pH of your water should be between 6.5 to 7.5, which is neutral,” explains Dr. Mercola.

But make no mistake about it: “mountain spring water” doesn’t mean those water jugs sitting on supermarket shelves! FindaSpring.com is a great website to help you find a natural spring in your area.
